  77.           This is the first letter written in my new AutoAddress program. I believe it is the only Macintosh-based contact management program with the following features:

Retail price is $49 for single user, $99 for site license. Now that the program is just about done, the cost to manufacture and ship a copy is $2.00 in materials and postage, 5 minutes of labor. Marketing is the killer though, I  am not sure how to get the word out. The State of R.I. is paying a marketing consultant to work with me (no cost to me, the state wants to encourage the growth of small businesses). So this should be a very exciting project.
  91.           My first program, AutoScribe, has sold only 8 copies so far ($49 retail). That program is much more limited in scope and is only for other programmers. Hopefully, the marketing consultant will help me there too.
  92.           Getting on to more important things, Arlene's recent pap test has come back perfectly clean, implying that the Doctor has removed most if not all of the problem. She is having no other problems and is able to lift the kids and do housework without pain or discomfort. She will still probably have a hysterectomy (sp?) in November or December but then again, how many kids do I need anyway? We are sort of down right now because one of our best friends has been diagnosed with breast cancer at age 36 and will require the removal of both breasts and much therapy. Such is life. 
  93.           All of the kids are doing fine. Anne is not the most pleasant person always, but we are working very hard to control her behavoir now so that she won't be totally off the wall as a teenager. This will prove to be a challenge.
  94.           On Saturday I am planning to swim across Naragansett Bay from Newport to Jamestown (2 miles). I will have an escort boat and the Coast Guard is sponsoring the swim (130 people) so it should be very safe. I have been training for this 3 days a week since December so it should be no problem. I don't care if I come in last as long as I finish.

  97.           As you recall, we discussed recently the amount of confusion generated by the redistricting of the RI State Assembly seats. The State has added to the confusion by not (as of yet anyway) preparing detailed maps of the new districts. Barbara Tufts, a candidate for the 31st district, has told me that many people are not aware of the changes. As a member of her election committee, I have prepared a map outlining her district. Attached please find a copy of the current state road map, with the 31st district shaded in green. I hope this will be of some help to you in your efforts to inform the public as to the nature of the re-districting.

Attached please find a complementary copy of AutoAddress. Please accept it free of charge and I hope it compares favorably with the program you purchased. You should be able to import your current data regardless of its structure because I have included a very powerful import routine. I still have your very helpful comments concerning my AutoScribe program and hope to implement them soon. AutoAddress still has the same weakness of the resource conflict. I have not had a chance to implement your suggestions becuase I have been working on AutoAddress and have had some family health problems (both of which are having favorable outcomes). I will forward revisions to you unless you tell me not to bother. Thank you for your support.

  111. I was sad to hear that our mutual friend, Juan Panallas, recently passed away.  He was an expert without peer in the soap industry.  Shirley Germershausen at Bradford Soap relayed to me that you recently contacted her seeking additional technical support on some projects you and Juan were jointly pursuing.  I don't claim to have the same depth of knowledge possesed by Juan, but I have been working as a consultant to the soap and chemical process industry for the last 10 years and have been employed at Procter and Gamble as both a project engineer and technical sales representative earlier in my career.
  112. At Bradford I have implemented and (I believe) improved on Juan's process for kettle preparation of soap from whole fats and oils and have authored the Kettle Soap Process Simulator, a computerized simulation package for manufacturing of soaps, as well as several other computer models pertaining to both the manufacturing, control and accounting aspects of chemical processes. The "KSPS" is discussed in detail in the January, 1987 issue of HAPPI.  I can forward a reprint to you if you so desire.  I have also worked on process control of translucent soap bar extrusion, have designed a system for continuously extruding clear soaps, and am currently involved in retrofitting a crude glycerine refining operation which has not met the specifications of the original designers.

  119.  n          This is the body of the letter. You can type your heart out here and you will never run out of space. However, AutoAddress works best if you keep your letters to one page. You can select any font you want for the body of the letter, but only one font. For more complicated formats use the FoxReport editor or export the data to Microsoft Word or some other word processor. (Note that the Export command has the ability to include field names in the first line. This was done specifically to ease Microsoft Word's Print-Merge command).
  120.           Using the Tab key will look fine on the screen, but will not print out in an acceptable fashion. I created the indent here by using 10 space bars (I apologize for this limitation).
